Earth Hour 2017

Earth hour is here and it doesn’t just mean switching your lights off for an hour, but all electronic devices. So if you’re feeling separation anxiety from your phone, laptop or tablet, here a few things you can do to keep yourself busy in those all-important 60 minutes.

  1. Play it Old School

Grab your family and friends and sit down to play a game of Monopoly by candle light. Now I can’t promise you’ll end the night without a family feud, but this will keep you busy for an hour AT LEAST.

  1. Treat Yo’self

In the last few minutes of light, make sure you run yourself a warm bath, light a couple candles and get ready for a soothing at home spa treatment. Be sure to keep your face mask, toner and creams near-by so you won’t need to rummage in the dark.

  1. Eat, eat and eat!

Get the charcoal ready, it’s time to braai/barbeque! All you need is a fire and you can cook almost anything. Keep a look out on my blog for upcoming recipes from simple starters to dessert all made over an open fire.

  1. Star Gaze

This is definitely how I’ll be spending my Earth Hour. Take some time out to appreciate nature with a warm fuzzy blanket and a flask of hot chocolate. Invite the ones you love and have a picnic under the stars!

Be sure to participate in Earth Hour this weekend, on the 25th March from 8:30pm until 9:30pm local time. Find out more about this great initiative right here.
